The Stokeshire Method: A Journey of Purpose and Connection
Every Journey Begins with a dream
It often begins with a simple question: “Is our family ready for a dog?” For many, this question is driven by more than a desire for a furry friend—it’s about finding a companion that brings joy, comfort, calm, and adventure! Perhaps it’s a mother whose child struggles with anxiety, a teacher who dreams of bringing a therapy dog into her classroom, or a clinician who believes in the healing power of a gentle touch.
We’ve seen our dogs become a beacon of hope for scared children in the care of Guardian ad Litem (GAL) advocates, providing comfort and courage during difficult moments. Our Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) dogs have transformed the lives of children on the spectrum, offering calm companionship and confidence in overwhelming situations. Clinicians who partner with us incorporate our dogs into therapy sessions, helping clients break down emotional barriers and build trust.
But our mission goes beyond therapy. We’ve placed dogs with educators who see anxious students light up in the presence of a furry friend. Families navigating grief have found solace in the gentle nuzzle of a Stokeshire puppy, and veterans struggling with PTSD have discovered a renewed sense of purpose through a loyal companion.
Through our partnership with Pawsitism, we have donated dogs to families in need, ensuring that the healing power of a dog is available to those who need it most. Our Red Fern Scholarship Program further extends our mission, providing deserving families with access to therapy-grade puppies at little to no cost.
The search can be overwhelming. The internet is full of breeders, each promising perfect puppies.
For those who find their way to Stokeshire, the journey is different. It begins with a conversation. We don’t just ask what kind of dog you want—we ask about your family, your lifestyle, your dreams. We want to understand who you are so we can help you find the perfect match.
The Stokeshire Difference
Every Stokeshire puppy begins with intention. Our founder, James, understands the transformative power of dogs because he has lived it. Growing up with undiagnosed dyslexia, ADHD, and ADD, James often felt lost in a world that didn’t understand him and in one he felt he didn’t belong. But amid the struggle, caring for animals on his family’s farm—especially his beloved dog and horses—became a source of comfort, connection, and purpose. Those early experiences shaped a lifelong passion for animals and a deep empathy for others, especially kids like him.
The Stokeshire Method is built on this foundation:
Intentional Planning: Each litter is carefully planned, balancing health, temperament, and the unique needs of families. Our pairings are chosen for their genetic excellence and therapy-grade temperaments.
Custom Curriculum & Training: Every puppy is raised with a purpose. Our custom curriculum is designed to build confidence, social skills, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for roles as family companions, therapy dogs, or emotional support animals.
Personalized Client Support: From your first inquiry to the day you take your puppy home, we guide you every step of the way. Our team answers your questions, provides updates, and helps you prepare for your new family member. We even have an AI assistant!
